REI is a first-harvest, single-cultivar Saemidori matcha from Wazuka, Kyoto, in the greater Uji region. Originally cultivated for its vibrant colour and natural sweetness, Saemidori is prized for its smooth texture and remarkably low astringency.
The result is a matcha that feels balanced and refined. With rounded umami and minimal bitterness, REI strikes a rare balance, welcoming to newcomers, yet layered enough to reward experienced palates. It performs beautifully as usucha and remains clean and structured even in an unsweetened latte.
REI is sourced from a family-operated farm in Wazuka, where it is cultivated without pesticides or herbicides.
